It's nearly the most wonderful time of the year…

LEGO has unveiled the annual Christmas advent calendar for its LEGO City range.

The toymaker has pre-orders open on its high street replica toy line for £19.99 or $34.99, with the product scheduled to begin shipping out on September 1, 2023. That's well ahead of Christmas if you're keen to get your shopping done early.

Hidden throughout the festive calendar windows are individual pieces that can be combined to create a snowy cityscape, including signs for the North Pole, decorated park benches and even a miniature Christmas tree.

Santa and Ms Clause get their own minifigures, while there are some quirky inclusions like a Tik Tok star with their mobile phone, a gamer (complete with gaming chair and computer), a downhill skier and some holiday carolers. Of course, Santa has his sleigh and reindeer ready for takeoff too!

There are also some hallmarks of festive home decor as well, including a cozy fireplace, a grandfather clock, presents to unwrap and a snowman for the front yard.

There are 258 pieces included here, and the advent calendar itself is designed for children age 5 and up. The LEGO City range recreates a bustling metropolitan cityscape, complete with its own jazz club and other recognisable landmarks.

This advent calendar is one of several LEGO is putting out this year, as it recently unveiled a LEGO Friends version (not to be confused with the TV show) that comes with a buildable train and playground.

This year's Star Wars advent calendar celebrates the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi with some unsuual Life Day trimmings – including a miniature Justifier, the Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter, a speeder bike, the Imperial Star Destroyer and an Ewok glider.

Marvel's advent calendar for 2023 includes minifigures of superheroes Okoye, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wong, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as exclusive builds of a HYDRA bullet traina and a mini-Quinjet.
